Top Canadian Ski Resorts - Whistler & Banff

The Canadian Ski Resort Of Whistler - Blackcomb
The passionate skier know that some of the best ski resorts in the world are located in North America, several of them being situated in Canada. This country is characterized by large territories occupied by mountain ranges, the most imposing of them being grouped in two large chains: the Canadian Rockies (belonging to the Canadian Cordillera) in the south-western regions and the Coastal Mountains stretching on the western side along the coasts of Pacific Ocean from Yukon to the southernmost point of British Columbia. As consequence of these geographical characteristics, the Canadian ski resorts are in large number and spread in the entire country, the most popular of them being Whistler and Banff.
Whistler is located in the province of British Columbia and is known by many people as the "Whistler - Blackcomb" skiing area due to the fact that actually the ski trails extended on over 8,000 acres and designated to all levels of skier (but mostly to intermediate and advanced sportsman) are located both on the slopes of Mount Whistler and Mount Blackcomb. The accommodation in the area is provided by plenty of hotels and vacation home rentals settled in the villages situated on the foothills of the two mountains (Whistler Village, Village North, Upper Village, Blueberry Hill, Alpine Meadows, Nicklaus North, and Whistler Creekside), while the numerous points of interest include restaurants, pubs, bars, spa centers, entertainment venues, and many others. A special feature of the Whistler - Blackcomb ski resort is the fact that this is the only site in North America where can be practiced skiing on runs located on a glacier (the Horstman Glacier on Mount Blackcomb).
The second top ski resort in Canada is Banff, in fact the entire "Banff - Lake Louise" skiing area. It is located in the province of Alberta and is made up of three excellent ski resorts: Lake Louise Mountain Resort (situated at 35 miles or 57 kilometers to Banff), Ski Norquay, and Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboarding Resort. Practicing winter sports in all these sites is very rewarding, however the premier place is considered the Sunshine Village because of the special snow present there (the so named "Champagne Powder", very appreciated by many advanced skier) and due to the numerous snowboarding and ski trails (roughly 107). Just like in all top Canadian mountain resorts, the accommodation options in Banff and nearby located villages are plentiful and great lodging is available in multitude of hotels and holiday rentals like cabins, ski chalet, condominiums, and vacation homes.
Despite to the fact that the number of accommodation units is very high in all top skiing destinations located in Canada, in the peak ski season it are very crowded and consequently most hotels and other lodging buildings are occupied up to the last room, especially in during weekends because of the short distance to two large metropolitan areas: Vancouver (close to Whistler) and Calgary (settled not far away to Banff). For this reason people planning ski vacation in the premier Canadian resorts are advised to choose from the early booking offers available right now in most travel agencies!
